New Skin and a little of history
Finally got down to revamping my blog skin, after saying that I would for years. :) I guess there's finally a reason to do so, in fact many reasons. I could remember years ago when the sacred realm of life was founded a little after JC, of course influenced by my "grand daughter" then, who gave up her blog soon after! I could remember then, during army, I wanted to create my own blog template.
But alas, at that time, I knew nothing about making webpages (not that I know a whole lot more now, or perhaps, just recently, I do after messing with it again =). After spending a few weeks trying to learn HTML on my boss's office computer, I started modifying this blog with that limited html knowledge. In the end, I created a mess of it which lasted till today, which is probably about 6ish years. Of course, I totally didn't know what I was doing then, only trying to get as much in as I can with the most basic knowledge to make the sacred realm of life more exclusive. I could still remember that one week of intense code modification of a ready-made blog skin, those long nights where I just spent editing the template. I was wondering then, why was I spending so much time editing the html for, especially when I don't even know what I was doing. I knew I was doing it, only because I wanted it to be different. There was something which I wanted to do, but I couldn't. What I didn't know then was this sub-conscious passion for creative expression through programming. Little did I know, that I would become a professional in this field, and that basic HTML knowledge were actually seeds of interest. Over the years, and gathering insights from other blogs, stuff like embedded music, visit counters, tag boards, start to populate themselves in this sacred realm. I guess they don't merely represent what they function. They represent memories of the blog. They are legacies. I could still remember there was one time when my bro and I were wondering how to hack an embedded music player to play more than one song. In the end, the solution, of course, was we couldn't do it in the codes, but to manually concatenating 5 songs into a single audio file. Today, after close to 7 years, I decided to remake the site from scratch, based on the design I wanted it to be. 7 years ago, my expression of creativity was constrained by the code which I didn't understand. I was totally enslaved by it. I knew what I wanted, but I couldn't do it, so I had to settle for much less. Today, for this template, what I had envisioned and planned prior to the making, had pretty much come through for most parts, if not all. The code has finally become the tools of my creativity. I finally can say this, "I know what I'm doing!". So I'm satisfied. :) I believe this template will last for quite a while... :) Hope it gives you guys a fresh feel everyday. :) And of course, this new blog skin, as original and exclusive as it can ever be, is dedicated to the love of my life. =) Enjoy! |
