High price to pay.
Physical health
• Twenty-six of 184 Chinese divers have retina damage. Gold-winning Guo Jingjing can barely see the diving board.
• Extreme dieting may be needed to keep their weight down. Diver Chen Ruolin was ordered to skip dinner for one year.
Emotional
• Extreme pressure: 'People are always watching you, the doctors, even the chefs in the cafeteria. You have no choice but to train so as not to let the others down,' says champion gymnast Chen Yibing.
• They train as many as 10 hours a day and generally do not have a life, especially those who train in seclusion.
Chen could count the amount of time spent with his parents: 'By hours...very few hours.'
Star weightlifter Cao Lei was not even told her mother was dying.

If this is the price to pay to achieve a dream, I'd rather not do it. While the end-result is important, enjoying the process is even more crucial. For that to happen, you have to have the right people around you... especially your supporter.
