Dec 20, 2006 Second chance for teen footballer in sex case It's back to school for boy, 15, put on probation for sex with 12-year-old On ST. The paper apparently tried really hard to protect the identity of the juvenile. Well, please, there are soooo many male 15 yr olds who have passion and ambitions for soccer, a 39-yr-old father, who actively encourages the son to be a soccer player, and a 65-yr-old grandma. If I were his relative, I think I'd probably be 90% sure of the person's identity... I mean the paper shouldn't just assume that all families don't mind relatives knowing about such stuff right? Why can't they just exclude the age since it's a pretty unrelated and useless piece of information? Is it really big news that a 15 yr old kid has a 39 yr old dad and a 65 yr old granny? And it's not as if we'd sympathize more with the family if the granny is 65 yr old as there're many grannies in singapore who is definitely much older than 65. Oh well, ST. A MAGISTRATE who placed a promising young soccer player on probation for having sex with a 12-year-old girl told him he was very lucky to have the school behind him. The school will help the 15-year-old to reintegrate, she said, and his parents must take a bigger role in this. The juvenile's 39-year-old father said he really appreciated the second chance the school was giving his son. 'I salute the school. This is from the bottom of my heart,' he said. He felt happy too that his son had been promoted to the next level. He told reporters that he would guide his son. 'He still wants to be a footballer. He doesn't want to do other jobs.' He said his son had been remanded earlier at the Singapore Boys' Home as they could not afford to bail him out. The teen's 65-year-old grandmother missed him a lot and went with the family on their weekly visits. |
