It really amazed me whenever i think of how the Singapore education have shaped and prepared us for what we do now. In fact, it's pretty intereting to see how some of those skills have become applicable to what we are doing now. The Importance of Math and Science are pretty obvious. Some of the others are probably slightly more obscured.

Comprehension: Read the passage and answer the question.
College: Read the textbook for the first time ever and do the hw problem at the same time.

Cloze Passage: Fill in the missing word in the passage. Often a vocabulary or some word you, or at least I, never thought exists.
College: Answer SAQ in exams by filling in technical terms which you, or at least I, never realized it actually exists.

Summary: Read the passage of 1000 words, highlight the key ideas and write them down (and paraphrase) in less than 100 words. Remove connecting words and other filler words to save space.
College: Read the textbook and take notes by either highlighting the book or condensing a whole 150 pages into 15 pages. Remove all superfluous words/points.

Art and Craft: Transform the apple on the plate into a drawing with shading.
College: Do a double integral to get the volume under the surface. Graph that surface and shade the volume under it. Of course, another use of A&C is to inspire you to take it on as a lifetime hobby as well, which some of my friends have and are really good in.

Music: Learn to Sing a song.
Use Now: Karaoke.

Geography: Learn about plate tectonics, formation of precipitation, etc...
Use Now: Understand why floods come and go. Realize that the car is probably save from floods if it's parked on higher grounds.

History: The great Depression, The bread line, the Wall St crash etc...
Use Now: Probably those are just one of the few stuff I could remember for US history. :P Hey come on, history was one of my worst subjects even though I love reading it!!!

Talking/Playing during assembly and punishment: Get your card confiscated and clean the gym.
College: Nothing's confiscated, but you still have to clean the bathroom.

Sports/PE in NYPS: Introduction to different ball games and keeping fit.
College: Basketball, Badminton... basically interested in games and hoping to keep fit, which obviously isn't working exactly well.

Probably should still have more, but gotta go mug. yesh, probably that's the last comparison I've to offer.

College: Mug even harder than before!!!
